Food For Good Mood!

As Advocacy in Wirral’s Food For Good Mood cafe at Victoria Central Hospital, Wallasey, comes to the end of its first 6 months of trading, its fundamental ethos has been underlined by a report from researchers at University College London.

After the diets of 3,500 middle-aged civil servants was analysed, the research (reported in the British Journal of Psychiatry) suggested that eating a diet high in processed food increases the risk of depression by up to 58%.

Our Food For Good Mood cafe starts with recognising that what we eat can radically affect our mood.  So, foods higher in slow-release complex carbohydrates help us avoid feelings of tiredness and fatigue, while fresh fruit and vegetables provide the array of vitamins our bodies need to function properly.

That’s why our menu is made up of home made products using the best quality, freshest ingredients. Whether its freshly-made soup, sandwiches or cakes, the proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating!

Our cafe has already received many, many plaudits from staff, patients and visitors alike.  If you haven’t yet popped along, why not give it a try?   You’ll find it on the first floor of the new Victoria Central Hospital, Mill Lane, Wallasey.
